I earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also have a Master of Public Administration degree from North Carolina Central University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. I have been licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina for many years.
Over the course of my career, I have provided psychotherapy in a wide range of clinical settings including practice in federal and state agencies.
I have a passion for helping others and have been able to do so with clients ranging in age from four to 80 years old. I have a distinct passion and proven talent for working with marriages and families
I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to treatment. Instead, I prefer a pragmatic approach that makes use of skills developed from my training in psychodynamic, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). I also use techniques from motivational Interviewing, solution-focused, and psychoeducational treatment approaches.
Belief in addressing the needs of the whole person- emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially is at the core of my interactions with clients.
My own faith and spiritual beliefs fuel my passion for people- their restoration and healing.
