Julia is a counselor-in-training while pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Back in the day Julia received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Hanover College but has spent the past 25 years raising her 5 children and mentoring college-age men and women in Asia, Indiana, and North Carolina as a staff member with Cru and Ambassador with The Impact Movement. Julia is a midwestern girl at heart who has extensive training and experience in crossing cultures and deeply values others' perspectives on the world. She is naturally curious, compassionate, and creative and desires to use these gifts to bring hope and healing to those who cross her path. In her free time, you can find Julia at her local gym caring for her own mental health through group fitness classes such as Body Pump or Yoga. You can also find her out on a date with her husband at anything but a chain restaurant or meeting up at a coffee shop to connect with friends. She also loves hosting her young adult kids and all their friends around her kitchen island and making her home a more beautiful and inviting space.
Julia works with clients from a client-centered, trauma-informed lens that is enlightened by recent research in affective neurobiology. Over the past year, Julia has worked on her own story with a trained Internal Family Systems therapist and desires to utilize IFS and mindfulness techniques with the clients she counsels because they have been helpful in her own healing journey. Julia is known for creating a safe, non-judgmental, empathic space for clients to literally “let their guard down” and begin the healing journey.
